I transformed my art room to appear like an open courtyard. Corinthian columns framed a flying Pegasus with words above an arch which read "who am I?". Below the arch was an open path with lilies mountains and rolling hills. Two smaller arched windows revealed squirrels, birds and tree. The ceiling was was painted in cloud cover along with several sliding doors. Butterflies and flowers were painted over mauve tri-color washed walls.

Murals within a school environment create an ambiance of light and joy. Children love to see art around them and to participate in the aesthetic development of their school community. These murals and special projects were created with this thought in mind. The energy of art to uplift the spirit within an educational environment is as important as core curriculum. Through participation in the development of ideas and process, students learn the power of art to communicate thoughts and feelings.
